Collage
For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in the concept of layered art. Early on, it was through scrapbooking my travels or covering my bedroom walls in the images that define me or using paint markers to alter magazine ads. I always wanted to tell a new story by adding a new perspective. Now I am compelled to tell the stories of others through their culture, moments, objects, and activities that define them.
Collage can be many things, but it is always about imbuing new meaning into a collection of images, there is always a new story to tell.
Illustration
Early on, I found a love for the quick simple lines and color fades you achieve with a humble art marker. Even though now I am more often illustrating on a computer, I still love a simple clean illustration that synthesizes a concept into a stylized representation that says so much more than a realistic rendition can.
